Company Background

Ahafo Community Bank (ACB) Limited was established in November, 1996 as a Limited Liability Company.

ACB has its Head Office at Kukuom in the Asunafo South District, and branches at Sankore, Goaso, Kenyasi, Kasapin and Mim. The Bank operates in three (3) Administrative Districts namely; Asunafo South, Asutifi North and Asunafo North.

On March 30, 1994 Ghana Commercial Bank branch at Kukuom was closed down.  This created a vacuum at Kukuom and its surrounding areas. As a result, it became very necessary to establish a Community Bank at Kukuom to fill the Banking vacuum created.

Osahene Kwaku Aterkyi II, - Omanhene of Kukuom Stool, led the Kukuom Traditional Council to mobilize initial capital of Three Thousand, Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢3,200.00) both in-cash and in-kind to meet the Bank of Ghana (BoG) requirement at that time.  The Bank of Ghana licensed the Bank as a Community Bank on November 11th 1996 to carry out the following banking business:

  1. Mobilise deposits within the Bank’s catchment area in the form of savings, current and fixed deposits.
  2. Give credit to the rural dwellers to support their occupation for enhanced productivity to create wealth for improved lives.
  3. Pay deposits on demand by cheque or otherwise.
  4. Make investments that are sanctioned by BoG.
  5. Engage in any economic activity authorised by BoG that will promote social and economic development of its catchment area and
  6. Any other services authorised by BoG.
